School District Names New Assistant Principal at Cheatham County Central High School

Ashland City, TN – The Cheatham County school district named Dana Bates as the new assistant principal at Cheatham County Central High School.

Bates graduated from Tennessee Technological University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Mathematics and Psychology. She also earned a Master of Administration and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University.

Bates’ experience in education spans over 25 years in Cheatham County. Her career includes positions at Harpeth High School (HHS), Harding Academy, and Cheatham County Central High School (CCCHS).

Most recently, Bates served as academic director at HHS.

Throughout her career, she has developed instructional strategies to help students improve attendance, test scores, and discipline. Bates also served as a mentor to other teachers, helping them to analyze data and develop effective lesson plans.

Bates is well known throughout Middle Tennessee for her unique money saving tips, educational craft ideas, and guest appearances on local news stations and nationally syndicated programs such as the Ananda Lewis Show in New York. Her work has also been published in The Tennessean including Ms. Cheap’s Guide to Nashville.

Having worked at CCCHS in 2003, Bates said she is no stranger to Cub Country. “I still have the t-shirt hanging in my closet. The students and faculty make you feel loved and at home. In fact, all of the students and teachers I have encountered in this county tend to stick to my heart,” she said.

Bates said she takes education very seriously and no matter what your socio-economic background is, an education is something that can’t be taken away. “As a parent of two college students, education is a top priority for me and my family,” she added.

Bates will immediately step into her new role.
