Master's of Education, Vanderbilt University, 2012

Kristian earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education at Vanderbilt University in 2008 and began teaching at Harpeth High School. In 2010, she returned to Vanderbilt to complete the Teaching and Learning in Urban Settings Master’s Program, graduating in 2012. She taught Middle School Mathematics from 2011 - 2016, and has been a state Common Core Coach. Kristian was a member of the Inaugural Cohort of the Tennessee Educator Fellowship, and through this opportunity she learned ways to engage with legislators and the community to advocate for the teaching profession. In 2015, the faculty at Wright Middle School recognized her hard work by naming her Teacher of the Year. She was also honored to be named a 2015 Blue Ribbon Teacher by Metro Nashville Public Schools. Kristian is now the Academic Specialist at Cheatham County Central High School. In her spare time, Kristian enjoys spending time with her two wonderful daughters, reading, cooking, and doing arts and crafts.
