INSTRUCTION: | Most of you will experience discussion question responses when you get to college. Most college courses are not using the response as a means of engagement within the classroom - particularly with online courses. The average length of a response is 250 words. Responses are like mini essays. They require a thesis, an introduction, body, and conclusion. You do not need to write five paragraphs or have three subpoints. You can have one paragraph or multiple paragraphs. You can have one subpoint or multiple subpoints. Do NOT force or limit yourself to three subpoints or five paragraphs. But like ALL formal writing, you need an introduction, body, and conclusion. They need to be well formatted and logical. You need to make a assertion and prove it. Do not be wishy-washy in your analysis. Additionally, do not use language that is evasive or vague in your response. Use active voice instead of passive voice more often than not. Your vocabulary should be improving as well. Try not to use the same significant words twice within a paragraph or at least within 2-3 sentences. The thesaurus and dictionary are your friends. Learn to use them. 1. Go to the green "Analytical Thinking and Writing" folder 2. Watch the video entitled "Ferrari F12 Review" once to go get a general sense of the video 3. While you are watching it, consider the essential elements of the car that make it one of the fastest production cars and one of the most excellent cars in production. Notice the reviewer doesn't focus on everything about the car. He only spends time on the most important parts. 4. Watch the video again and write down what those essential elements are and explain a little what he says about those elements. Break down the car into those elements - like a chemical compound and its elements. Consider that the video is only 9 minutes long, so you don't need to write a lot about each element. 5. Feel free to discuss it with your neighbor as well 6. Write a response to the discussion question that you will find in the same folder entitled "Ferrari F12 Review Analysis" 7. As you are writing it, ensure you have an introduction, body, and conclusion. It should be between 125 - 200 words" 8. You will submit this discussion question response for a grade. 9.
