Hello Everyone,
I have been at Cheatham County Central High School since Fall of 2020. I currently teach English 4, Honors English 4, and Creative Writing. I have a Masters from the University of Kentucky is Secondary English Education and a Bachelors, also from UK, in Theatre and Secondary English Education. Prerequisites: Taken English 1,2, & 3.
 
Course Description:
English 4 analyzes British Literature and other European texts in order to think critically about how and why we as people view the world the way that we do and how looking through other perspectives can help as develop a grander world view. Students will look at texts including The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, The Canterbury Tales, Macbeth, Sherlock Holmes, and many others over the course of the school year. Students will also have the chance to create a number of written works and projects to test their knowledge and understanding of content as well as think critically in regards to the texts and works we cover.
Prerequisites: Test into the class the previous year or be dropping down from Dual Enrollment.
 
Course Description:

Students in this class will be pushed to have a greater understanding of the content and the meaning behind each work as well as dip into the connection between some of these works and the time they come from in history. Students will look at texts including  How to Read Literature Like a Professor, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, The Canterbury Tales, Macbeth, Sherlock Holmes, and many others over the course of the school year. Students will also have the chance to create a number of written works and projects to test their knowledge and understanding of content as well as think critically in regards to the texts and works we cover.

Course Description: In Creative Writing students will be given the chance to focus on a type of writing they only get to address briefly in other English Classes. Students will gain a deeper understanding in how to create and develop stories by focusing on the different aspects of what makes up story telling whether in books, images, for the screen, the stage, or even through music. Students will write in short and long term increments in order to develop skills for planning and pacing themselves. Students are given the chance to think more outside of the box and enjoy the freedom to let their imagination travel. Students from all grades and writing ability are welcome in this space as long as they come in with the willingness to try and learn.
